CROP LIVESTOCK INTERACTION PATTERNS IN FOUR SELECTED UPAZILA OF KHULNA DISTRICT

Traditional crop-livestock interaction patterns were investigated in four different Upazila under Khulna District of Bangladesh during the period from March to April, 2002. Data on parameters viz. number livestock and poultry, medium cultivation, use fertilizer pesticides for crop production, type integrated farming system, rate quantity cowdung, etc. collected randomly selected 117 farm family heads analyzed using statistical package SPSS. Most farmers had approaches which crop-ruminant-poultry (39.3%) crop-ruminant-poultry-fish (33.3%) remarkable ones. The average cattle, goats, chicken ducks per 5.66, 2.42, 18.34 6.47, respectively. rice yield was 5.37 t ha-1. Annual milk egg production 140.52 kg 110.51 On average, 81.4% 59.1% used chemical respectively production. Per cent practiced artificial insemination vaccination their 29.8% 6.8% Forty six percent families cowdung as fuel 1% manure, whereas 53% both manure. maximum productivity available resources achieved through integrating crops, animals plants. Cowdung is recommended apply more fields instead fuel. Proper utilization residues products animal feed also emphasized.
